Wollongong’s Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride Triples!

DGR Wollongong

The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride – Wollongong has more than tripled its inaugural total. Fundraising closed on October 31 and the official figure raised is $65,215, compared to $20,568 in 2017.

On September 30, scores of dapper ladies and gents donned their finest attire aboard classic and vintage motorcycles. The annual event raises funds to support research into prostate cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention programs via the Movember Foundation.

Organiser Jane Sim from City Coast Motorcycles says the result is testament to the way the motorcycling community will band together for an important cause.

“In the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride, we ride with a purpose. We want to help stop men dying too young.

“We had 227 registrations. 648 rides were held around the world and Wollongong ranked in the top 20.

“Caps off to participant Phill Critcher who raised over $12,300 and placed 15th globally,” said Jane.

The Wollongong ride also places the Illawarra on the map as a fantastic motorcycling destination.

“It’s not hard to find beautiful scenery, but I also try to come up with a new route every year so that the participants have a different experience each time.

“It delivers the ride to new spectators and spreads the message, further. We were honoured to feature in the global wrap-up video once again,” said Jane.

Join us at our WAYNE Special Event Q&A Screening

Wayne Special Event Q&A Screening
City Coast Motorcycles is proud to host the “WAYNE” Special Event Q&A Screening at 6.30pm on Tuesday August 7 at Event Cinemas, Wollongong

WAYNE is the near improbable true story of the ‘larrikin kid’ from Wollongong, Wayne Gardner. With girlfriend Donna Forbes never far from his side, Wayne’s remarkable journey takes him from a 5-dollar dirt bike to the pinnacle of his sport. In 1987 Wayne becomes the first Australian to win the World Motorcycle Grand Prix, and with it, the hearts of all Australians.

This thrilling documentary has been directed by Jeremy Sims and was inspired by Nick Hartgerink’s biography, The Wayne Gardner Story. Featuring interviews with legends from the sport’s ‘golden age’ including Eddie Lawson, Wayne Rainey, Mick Doohan and Kevin Schwantz, WAYNE is an amusing, inspiring and, at times, wild cinematic ride through the life of a true Aussie legend.

WAYNE will release in cinemas nationally on 6th September 2018. See #WayneFilm early at our Wollongong Q&A special event screening with the legend himself, Wayne Gardner in attendance. Book your tickets now!

DOING FMX FOR THE KIDS!

City Coast Motorcycles Yatcon Civil FMX Jam

VIEW FULL PHOTO GALLERY

The City Coast Motorcycles Yatcon Civil FMX Jam was back for its third year at i98fm Illawarra Convoy on November 19. Thousands massed to watch many of Australia’s biggest names in FMX throw down at the region’s biggest charity gig.

Just a day before the world class fmx stage was under rainwater, but Peter Yates and the Yatcon Civil crew pulled out all the stops to make sure the event went ahead for the kids.

Our resident FMX fanatic Justin “Bushy” Bush mastered the mic while the riders owned the arena. The talent list was on point with Robbie Maddison, Chucky Norris, Luke McNeill, Tom Robinson, Cory Bozzola, Alex Bucholtz, James Martin, Jake Bowen, Dylon Mcdonald, Scott Perry, Ben Richards, Tom Richards, Codie Rooney, Will Schwarz and Oliver Hutchinson.

Fans lined up to receive a personally signed copy of Maddo’s children’s book. There were Skullcandy giveaways, mini-bike races, a best whip comp and monster FMX moves. The energy in the crowd was electric, photographers took position and the riders delivered.

Robbie Madison returned for his second year to the City Coast Motorcycles Yatcon Civil FMX Jam.
